Close & Personal: What Are Ministry Plans for the Future?
If you have been following this ministry for some time now, you are, with no doubt, aware of the passion that I have for the cause of these Glad Tidings. So much so that sometimes I feel like I’m getting ahead of myself. Nonetheless, I have come to accept that it is who God made me to be. By the way, I got saved in 2015 and started preaching that same month. Fast forward to 2020, that is where Evangel Africa came into being. Its main idea was to be a platform where God's people can go to find answers to difficult Christian questions, alongside finding daily encouragement for faith living and just learning the Bible.
Now what about the future: what’s the goal; what’s the vision? I feel like I owe my readers an answer to this, most particularly our sponsors. It’s always the mark of a good leader to have a plan for the future, despite the fact that no one knows what tomorrow holds since God is the ultimate governor.
Relocation
Having a heart of a missionary, my heart has always been concerned about the people from where I was born, somewhere in Zimbabwe. I believe God's long-term will for me is a call to serve among those people. By the way, this plan is already in motion; I have already set my eyes to relocate as soon as I am financially stable enough to launch something to permanently feed my children with. What is the estimated time frame for this relocation? Let's say 5 years minimum.
Church plant
Believe it or not, I have in the past, turned down very good offers of being a pastor – not once but twice. Something in me felt like that was not the Lord’s will at that time. Even today, I am not interested in taking over someone’s church, nor to start “my church”. However, I still believe that the best way to have an effective Gospel ministry is through the local church. Hence, part of the future plan, God helping us, is to establish a small church as soon as the relocation is successful. I have consulted who I need to consult about this, prayed about it, and calculated all the necessary logistics for such a project, and it seems like everything is pointing towards that.
One might ask: but we already have many churches, why another one? Because, according to my observation, most of what is called churches in Africa are nothing close to a Biblical church. For a start, you will find water in the Kalahari way quicker than you will find the Gospel of salvation. It is that rare, alongside other abuses and wrong things that spoil my mood every time I think about them. Someone is gonna have to stop these by establishing something that will restore the dignity, passion and joy of what it means to be a Biblical church. A place where people will come for Christ, not because of someone’s personality or “anointing”. An environment where Christ’s sheep will be fed the pure Bible, without gimmicks and drama. A congregation where people will freely choose to give or not give their money cheerfully, without fear-mongering and threats. A church where leadership will be chosen based on spiritual maturity and an exemplary Christian life. A home where God's people will be taught the Bible extensively and trained for evangelism. A platform where sound doctrine will be valued, and false teachers will have no free pass. A place where loving church discipline, the Lord’s Supper and baptisms will be carried out on a regular basis. An assembly of believers that will not seek to take from the poor community around it but to give and to add value; improving the lives of the villagers, especially orphans, widows and the disabled.
Expansion of the online ministry
In my view, this online ministry has been a success so far, even though our reach is still significantly small. Although everyone wants numbers, the Christian goal is always faithfulness in truth, and I believe we have done that effectively thus far. The future plan is to expand this platform, starting with pumping funds a bit towards advertising it. Technology is the future, and we want to be part of it by fully utilizing its resources for the Gospel. Of course, we will continue to improve the quality and depth of our content. Hopefully, someday we can open a studio, which will be the centre of our Gospel outreach. If I were to dream further, I would say a Gospel radio station is the ultimate achievement. Who knows?
Expansion in the ground outreach
Personally, I have some experience with things like street preaching, not to mention my failed hospital and prison ministry, which I tried in 2017. Come the future, I pray that God gives me grace in that field again. What can I do with this short life than to serve the Lord?
Summary
So this is the general outlook of the future plan in terms of the Gospel. I am very much aware that all our plans are subject to the Sovereign will of the Lord. Life happens to all of us and plans always change. To the supporters and partners of Evangel Africa, I can’t thank you enough. Yes, even our regular readers. Your support makes this more joyous than it already is. Even to those who wish to join us in this project for bringing souls to Christ, this is the direction of where this train is going, will you get on board?
