Boring song; let's tell others about Jesus

Songs have been proven to have some positive effects upon the soul. They comfort, encourage and even stimulate excitement. But, what about a boring song? It does the opposite; it fatigues and depresses. Taking the song analogy to Church, what is it that excites a modern believer? It is a message about a miracle coming, a new job and a new season. On the opposite is the reality that most so-called believers have stomped their ears from being told about sharing the Gospel to the lost
. My dear reader; are you one of those who just don’t care about bringing someone to the Lord?

Regardless, reality does not change the fact that life will end for all of us, as much as funerals are real, so is hell. As much as we have heard this boring song many times, so must we dance to it and witness to those who have not heard about this Good News.

As a wise man once said, “To hate someone is to believe that hell exists and that person might be going there but not tell them about a way of escape”. Imagine a doctor who has just discovered a cure for a deadly disease; can he keep that to himself and let people die or he will not sleep until he has announced such good news to his patients? If you truly love your fellow citizens as you claim, surely you will tell them about such a great salvation that is now available through the Cross of Christ. That is the true definition of love. Think about the consequences of dying without Christ.

Below are passages from the book of John, let us take a closer look at them.

John 1:40-41 One of the two who heard John speak and followed Jesus was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his own brother Simon and said to him, “We have found the Messiah”

Notice how Andrew led his own family member, Peter to the Lord. Dear friends; let us forget the people on the street for a while because if there are people who desperately need salvation, it's the ones who are closest to our hearts; family! Don’t ever buy into the deceiving idea that family members don’t go to hell. They do. There is no special place in heaven specifically designed for your family members. All of mankind is guilty before the Almighty Judge; there is none who does good, not one (Psa 14:3).

Therefore everyone (starting with your loved ones) must heed the words of Jesus whispered to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). Our Lord’s last words to His disciples were, “When the Spirit comes, you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, and to the end of the world” (Act 1:8). By the way, what is your Judea? That is your home town; your kindred – your own family. Then you can think about going to your Samaritan neighborhoods, even to the whole world. Just a quick question; how many people have you told about Jesus this year? Aha! You tell me that you are a Spirit-filled, prayer warrior believer yet you can’t, you just can’t tell anyone about salvation? Notice that our Lord said that when you receive the Spirit, He will empower you to be a witness. What about you? Do you have the Spirit? Why then are you not a witness

A good evangelist once broke my heart with these words, “Have you no wish for others to be saved? Then you are not saved yourself be sure of that.” Therefore I think it would be a good thing for some of us to check our coldness towards the salvation of others. It might be that you are not saved yourself. Self-examination is good for the soul!

The second passage we find is Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman. Observe how the dear husbandless lady was able to call others to the Saviour of souls.

John 3:29-39 The woman then left her water pot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, "come, see a man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?" Then they went out of the city and came to Him.....And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the woman's testimony, "He told me all that I ever did."

Notice how the woman called her neighbours with a simple statement, “Come see a man who told me everything I ever did.” Why would she keep such wonderful news as a secret? You see that we cannot have passion for the lost unless we have really had an encounter with Christ, I mean the more you learn about Christ through His Word and what He has done for you in His cross work, the more you love Him, the easier it is to burst out into telling others about such a great Saviour. Have you discerned that ever since the Church stopped teaching its members the true riches of Christ through verse-by-verse doctrinal preaching, so did the churchgoers lose passion for evangelism?

Notice how the testimony of the woman was powerful enough to bring souls to the Redeemer. It simply means that your testimony (though not the actual Gospel message) can plant a seed of faith in someone’s heart. Why are we ashamed of our Lord? It amazes me that we all love to boast and shout about Jesus inside our Church walls yet we are ashamed of Him when we sit in public. I define that as pure hypocrisy.

You may say, “But, I want to witness but I just don’t know how to do it”, desire is a good thing but how many times have you prayed and pleaded with the heavens to give you wisdom on how to do it? I mean something like, “Lord Jesus, please teach me and give me boldness to tell my friend about you”. Anything that you don’t care to pray about is that which you don’t care to do. I want to encourage you though; you can start working towards that direction today. As a matter of fact, there is a certain person somewhere who is still waiting for you to point them to the Saviour. If only you will just do it.

James 5:19-20 My brothers, if anyone among you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

Let us spread the Good News!

Tithe; The Hidden Truth That You Will Never Be Told

Evangel Africa does not glory in controversies but that everyone may come to the truth of the Gospel as written in Scripture, hence we do encourage everyone to test all our teachings in light of what the Bible says. On that note, without fear or favour, we are going to correctly explain the real truth about tithe that you were never told; its origin and its application to the New Testament believers . This might be the most important thing you will ever read. First, understand this The foundation of all this must begin with your understanding about Covenants. There are two main covenants in the Bible, the Old Covenant and the New Covenant . The Old Covenant was a binding agreement between God and specifically the people of Israel, through strict obedience of the Law in return for God’s blessings (Duet 28:1-14) – while the New Covenant is a binding agreement between God and all people through the work of Jesus on the Cross in return to doing nothing but just faith in Christ (Heb 8:6-13)

Locating the Right Lady for Marriage

I was listening to a local radio station and the topic was about the modern generation of men who are no longer interested in being married. In some sense, I can resonate with that because I remember the frustration I had when I was ready for marriage; there was no one among all the church ladies who was woman enough to deserve my hand of marriage. Why is this so, why does it seem like it is becoming harder for church boys to find suitable partners? Now as a disclaimer, this is a Believers-only discussion, we have no business with what worldly people do in the lust of their flesh. Nonetheless, suppose you were hunting for that dream girl, what characters would you look for? Let’s dig in… Salvation I am sorry, but this is non-negotiable. You can’t and you will not build any sustainable Christian home with an unbeliever. A goat will always be a goat and will by no means cooperate with sheep. As I hinted a few articles ago that the greatest challenge in the church today is that a great ma

Is the Church the New & True Israel?

I know that we have strong opinions about this issue. And also our emotions are quite attached to this conversation; all shaped by our experiences, political affiliations and the like – understandably so. However, my duty is to deal with this question: what does the Bible say? Whenever we start with that question, guaranteed, we are shielded from our biases towards the actual truth of the matter. Believe it or not, this is one of the most important things to learn and to have a clear understanding of. It will affect how you read the Bible. Even more, a clear understanding of this issue will affect your attitude toward Jewish people who are in Israel today. Who is Israel by the way? Believe it or not, there are some who disagree on this question, hence I will just let Paul tell us who an Israelite is when he says, … “For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin… ”( Rom 11:1 ). Therefore, only the physical, direct descendants of Abraham, Isaac

My Personal Issue With the SDA Church

Indeed I used the word “personal” as the headline of my script, yet the truth is, I have no personal problem with any faith, or church whatsoever. My issue is and will always be a doctrinal one . That is, I begin by looking at Scripture and the truth therein, then use that to judge my own life, and also anything else, including churches and other religions at large. As you might expect, the views expressed in this article are not coming from hear-say, but I have done my homework and consulted the official sources from our brothers in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. These are the concerning issues I have found out. Ellen G White If perhaps you are new to this name, Ellen White is not only the founder of the Seventh- Day movement, but her teachings are also the basis of the entire SDA Church doctrine. Her writings are what the SDA members call “the spirit of prophecy”. It is concerning enough that what she wrote is regarded by the Adventist Church as being “divinely inspired” (on the s
