My favourite doctrine is, without a doubt, the doctrine of the sovereignty of God. That is, it is the Almighty who is in control of our lives, not Satan, certainly not Karma and definitely not luck. Can God’s Word and modern scientific theories ever truly agree? Well, that is what some believe. Remember that last time we spoke about Darwin’s evolution, which believes that all of us are a product of a million years of changing from one animal to another, until what we are today. Hopefully, enough proof was provided on our part that such a thing is neither scientific nor possible according to the laws of physics. Of course, we know the Jah-mans, and their long dreadlocks, reggae music and the green plant in their pockets. Believe it or not, I was once a fan. I even tried growing a few dreads here and there. What some of us perhaps never knew is that Rastafarianism is actually a religion; a belief system that can also stand toe to toe with our Christian faith. But where did it come from and what is it all about? The term "Rasta" comes from a man called Ras Tafari Makonnen who became a king in Ethiopia in the 1930s and took upon himself the title Haile Selassie I , which means power of the Trinity. His followers went further to label him as the “Lion of the tribe of Judah” and “King of Kings.” Most of his fan base was (still is) in Jamaica, and they believed that Mr Makonnen was the biblical Messiah reincarnated, who is yet to come again to save black people and also to judge the world. They even called him “Jah Ras Tafari” ( Jah means God or Yahweh ), a term they borrowed from Psalms ...

Do you know how we all got here? We were once monkeys, then we became gorillas, and finally, here we are. That is according to the Theory of Evolution founded by a certain Charles Darwin. Most Christians have silently accepted evolution because that is what we are being fed through the education system. We just do not know how to respond because the “experts” tell us that evolution is a verifiable, scientific fact.
