Should Believers Take Part in Politics?

Image
Your current state of living is directly influenced by the governing authorities of your region. There is a group of individuals who are in charge of what happens when, where and how. It is what the Bible describes as the “laws of the land”, and the people responsible for that are called politicians. The most dominant political system that we see in the Bible is a monarchy, where a fixed King was in charge and everyone else was to submit quietly. In our time, however, we have seen the rise of democracies. That is when citizens choose who they want to govern them, through the polling system. Now, the big question: should you, as a Christian, participate in any sort of political organisation, or should you just stick to the Gospel of our salvation and prepare people for an eternal kingdom? The answer to this question is actually two-fold. That is, there is a difference between participation in politics in terms of registering to vote and being part of politics in terms of being a Member ...

Let’s Talk: Woman to Woman

Image
Philippians 4:3 And I ask you, my true partner, to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life . One of the most tragic things about the church in Africa is that women are always the first time customers of every false prophet that pops up on every street corner throughout our black Land. If only you could take a tour on the ground and be amazed by the number of ladies that flock to these deception centres. As a fellow woman myself, I cannot sufficiently express how heartbreaking this is. I feel like – as our Lord says – we are sheep without a shepherd ( Mat 9:36 ). I strongly believe our men, husbands, brothers and fathers have severely failed us in terms of leadership in spiritual matters. On one end, however, I still lay the blame, squarely, on each and every Christian girl. Because I do not think there is sufficient hunger in our church...

How to Quickly Lose Your Listeners When Sharing the Word

Image
Remember, every believer in Christ is a preacher of the Gospel of our Lord. You may be a clergy man or layman, but sooner than later, you will be given a chance to impact your spiritual capacity on others. Now imagine: you have spent the whole week in rigorous study and a few more hours pleading in prayer, as you anticipate the delivery of the heavenly message. When that day finally arrives, your name is called to the front, you rise up; shivers run down your spine, your head spins, and before you recollect yourself, you are standing before a group of religious people; all staring at you from top to bottom. Within a moment, they have observed everything about you. It’s in that instance that they draw conclusions in their minds about what you are all about and whether you are worth their time or not. More often than not, it’s us preachers who turn people off, regardless of whether we have good sermons or not. Here are some of the things that you must guard against, dear Gospel minister,...

Something is Happening In Nigeria & You Must Know About it!

Image
When we talk about the word “cruel” or “killing” or even something as strong as “genocide”, we would all quickly point to the current situation in Gaza. Yet there is something similar, and perhaps far worse, happening right in our Black Land, yet nobody seems to be interested in it. Location: Nigeria. Occasion: Horrific massacre. Victims: Christian population. Perpetrator: Islamic Terrorists. Their crime: believing in the Lord Jesus. I once wrote something about the trouble that Nigeria has brought to the rest of Africa through its mass production of false prophets. What I was somewhat unaware of, however, is that Nigeria is a vast country that is divided into North and South. The South side is Christian dominated and relatively peaceful. This is the part of that nation which is a breeding ground for conmen in the name of Christianity. The North, however, is a completely different world altogether. Muslim dominated and very much in turmoil, as you would imagine. According to my little ...
