One of the greatest virtues of the Christian Gospel is clarity. That is, Scripture is clear on who God is, what He has done, and promises to do in the future; how He sees us, and what He expects us to do for His glory and also for our salvation. This kind of clarity is most helpful to our Christian souls, lest we find ourselves deep in confusion and idolatry. Since Believers are students of the Word, you would expect them to possess the same skill of clarity. That means we must be able to inform each other and the world at large about the truths of our God; to clearly delineate between truth and error, unbelievers and believers, and false teachers versus true ministers. Having said that, I fear – as I often do – that the modern Christian culture is working overtime to blur the lines of clarity.
